BEIA Consult International joined the 12th edition of the Bucharest Science Festival (BSF 2026), Romania’s first science festival, held from 23 to 27 September 2026 in Bucharest. The Secular-Humanist Association of Romania (ASUR) and Planeta Științei have organised the festival every year since 2013. This edition brought 22 events across 18 venues in five days, under the patronage of the Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digitalization.
The festival opens science to everyone, from pupils and families to researchers, through exhibitions, lab visits, debates, and hands-on experiments. This year’s programme put drones, rescue robots, and intervention technology in front of a wide audience, a natural match for our maritime research.
We showcased two of our unmanned systems projects. UMERS equips a UAV with radio beacon detection to locate and follow distress signals from people and vessels at sea, for faster maritime search and rescue. PASITHEA develops hybrid autonomous vehicles that fly, hover, and dive, moving between air and water within a single mission. Visitors asked sharp questions, and we loved to see so much curiosity about robots at sea.
