The aim of the project is to provide and implement a solution to expand the Copernicus Sentinel satellite data access and processing infrastructure by adding data cube components and distributed processing facilities, in line with national environmental and security monitoring priorities. ROCS – or ROmani earth Observation Cpotlaborative System – is the proposal of the consortium led by UVT for topic #17 within the call, supporting the approach through case studies, such as those on adaptation to climate change, the common agricultural policy, basic products associated with forest fund developments as well as on the aspect of using earth observation data in educational processes.
The consortium organized for the development and implementation of the project ROCS is coordinated by Dr. Marian NEAGUL, scientific researcher in the framework Institute for Advanced Environmental Research (ICAM), within West University of Timisoara, and benefits from the contribution of researchers within Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science as well as a Department of Geography within Faculty of Chemistry, Biology and Geography.
Partners: West University of Timișoara (UVT) (Coordinator), National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest (UPB), RA National Meteorological Administration (ANM), Romanian Space Agency (ROSA) and Beia Consult International SRL
