BEIA had the opportunity to participate in the RRREMAKER Symposium : Innovation for Sustainable Crafts on 11-13th of March 2025 in Granada, Spain.
This symposium offered insights from a contemporary review of craftsmanship and outlined the areas it could advance under the paradigms of the circular, social, and collaborative economy. The challenge posed by the emergence of AI in the creative sector was included in the symposium, with examples of best practices from companies and institutions that connected technology and generative design with artisanal production.
The RRREMAKER symposium was structured into three areas: the first, on design, art, and crafts—between innovation and cultural identity—presented proposals from the project’s international partners and a roundtable discussion on textile crafts. The second focused on social and economic sustainability in crafts, with the presentation of important studies evaluating the Spanish artisan sector (UGR) and the sustainable marketing of artisanal souvenirs in Peru (PUCP), in addition to other joint projects. Finally, a Knowledge Transfer (ToK) event called Artesana-Sustainable AI addressed AI as a tool for sustainability in object production. RRREMAKER contributed to the construction of an AI-assisted platform, a workshop, and proposals from companies that applied this and other technologies.
