BEIA Consult participated in the High Level Conference on Agricultural Research and Innovation

BEIA Consult participated in the High Level Conference on Agricultural Research and Innovation – a basis for the development of European agriculture, rural areas and bioeconomy on 5 April 2019 at the Palace of the Parliament in Bucharest, Romania.

The Romanian Presidency strongly aims at establishing the role of the agricultural and food sectors in the development of the bioeconomy as a vision for the agricultural growth.

The main objectives of the conference:

  • Identification and configuration of agronomic research priorities to the need for food and the future development of the bioeconomy.
  • Identifying the challenges and debating the ways and means of implementing the updated Bioeconomy Strategy at European and national levels.

Bioeconomy is a relevant policy with major implications on the achievement of the SDGs and rural development. All countries need to be supported to take the necessary steps towards bioeconomy strategies – nobody should be left behind.

Romania actively promotes the bioeconomy approach at EU level and has taken steps to create administrative capacity and knowledge for research and innovation in bioeconomy.
