Beia Consult is presenting the new project SmartAgro (Telemetry System for Intelligent Agriculture). As a general objective, the project proposes the development of a precision farming platform using M2M / IoT radio-telemetry systems and a Cloud platform for processing collected data. Also, the company attended the first edition of the Transylvanian Machine Learning Summer School (TMLSS) that took place from 16th to 22nd of July 2018. BEIA participated in the Scientific Challenges & Business Opportunities in Water Management Workshop (SciBOWater) and presented the “Adaptation of irrigation systems to current climate changes” scientific paper.
BEIA has signed in July 2018 a new contract for maintenance of AgroExpert systems. Most of the AgroExpert systems was installed during the year 2008 in order to provide county phytosanitary agencies in Romania with automatically collected and processed agro-meteorological data. Collection of primary meteorological data was and still is performed with Adcon Telemetry A733 UHF Remote Telemetry Units (RTUs) equipped with air humidity & temperature sensors, leaf wetness sensors, rain gauges and other sensors. Primary data collected by the RTUs on a certain area arrive through UHF radio to an Adcon A840 gateway which is directly and solely connected to a local data processing PC. Also, the company started in July the project for Data&Voice cabling to Bazinul Olimpic Braila.

Panasonic Corporation received awards for 14 of its products at the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2018 of the Red Dot Award, an international product design award. The ceremony was held on July 9, 2018, in the city of Essen, Germany. The Red Dot Award was founded in 1955. Its sixty-plus year history puts it shoulder to shoulder with the German iF Design Award, as an internationally renowned institution. The winning products are being displayed at the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen from July 10 to August 5, 2018.

Ericsson and Singtel are strengthening their 5G Centre of Excellence Programme partnership with the announcement of a new initiative that will see Singapore’s first 5G pilot network go live by Q4 this year. Announced this week, the 5G pilot network will be deployed at one-north in Buona Vista, the country’s science, business and IT hub. Industries such as transportation, healthcare and manufacturing can leverage 5G to accelerate digital transformation and deploy advanced automation technologies.
CISCO and Samsung in partnership with Orange demonstrate new 5G-Powered Home Entertainment and Smart City Applications in Romania. The three companies step up their 5G efforts with demonstrations of 5G UHD and VR Streaming, cloud gaming, smart city sensor and real-time security camera analytics. Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. and Cisco announced that they have successfully completed a friendly-user trial and series of 5G demonstrations with Orange in Floresti, Cluj, Romania.
